About the Pepperl+Fuchs K-System Isolated Barriers
In chemical plants, refineries, paint shops and other hazardous areas, field instruments must be connected through intrinsic safety barriers that limit the energy reaching the Ex zone. Pepperl+Fuchs K-System isolators are among the most widely installed barriers in process plants worldwide, and a common spare in Pakistani process industries.
Each module does one job. Switch amplifiers (KCD2-SR, KFD2-SR2) pass NAMUR sensor or dry contact signals to relay outputs. SMART transmitter power supplies (KCD2-STC, KFD2-STC4) feed 2-wire 4–20 mA transmitters and pass HART. Current drivers (KCD2-SCD, KFD2-SCD2) drive valve positioners in the hazardous area, and temperature converters (KCD2-UT2, KFD2-UT2) accept thermocouples and RTDs. Most are rated up to SIL 2 and can be powered over the Power Rail.
We supply K-System modules as replacements and for new Ex loops. Send the type code from the module label and we match it; for new loops, send the instrument data and we select the barrier.
