About the SICK KTS Contrast Sensors
Contrast sensors read the small printed marks on packaging film and labels so the machine cuts, seals or prints in exactly the right place. The SICK KTS is the current standard: a white LED light source detects even low-contrast marks on shiny, metallised or transparent film, and a teach button sets the sensor to a new material in seconds.
Choose the sensing distance (13 mm for most machines, 25 or 40 mm where the sensor sits further from the web) and the light-spot direction to match the mark. "Easy Teach" versions are set with a single button press; IO-Link versions let the PLC store settings per product, which is useful on machines that change film often.
We supply KTS sensors for new machines and as replacements for older KT5 or KT10 contrast sensors. Send the old type code and the mark size and we recommend the right KTS.
