About the SICK deTec4 Safety Light Curtains
Safety light curtains protect operators at danger points such as presses, cutting machines, palletisers and robot cells: when a hand or body enters the protective field, the machine stops before anyone is hurt. The SICK deTec4 Core is a Type 4 light curtain rated PL e / SIL 3, the highest level for this kind of protection.
Choose the resolution by what must be detected — 14 mm for finger protection, 30 mm for hand protection — and the protective field height by the size of the opening. The deTec4 Core sets include sender, receiver and mounting brackets, and the slim profile has no blind zone at the ends, so it fits closely to the machine frame.
A light curtain is only part of a safety function: it must be connected to a safety relay or safety controller and installed at the correct safety distance. Our engineers can calculate the distance, wire the safety circuit and validate it with your team.

Which resolution do I need?
14 mm protects fingers and is required close to the danger point; 30 mm protects hands and allows a slightly larger safety distance. The safety distance calculation decides — we can do it for you.
Can a light curtain be connected directly to a contactor?
No. It must be evaluated by a safety relay or safety controller that monitors the contactors. We supply and wire the complete safety circuit.
